A MOMENT WITH BILKISSES: WHEREIN LIES OUR HUMANITY

Wherein Lies Our Humanity?

It did not begin today for sure; nor yesterday, and it probably might not end tomorrow; but one thing is becoming very apparent as the days go by, our humanity is fast depreciating.
Is it a religion thing? Because sincerely, that is the part I wished we understood better. Don’t misquote me, I understand well enough to be able to pen this write up. However, the incomplete understanding of all religions is what will prevent this write up from being an in-depth religious one.

In recent weeks, a lot has happened. Too much, for us to sit and keep folding our hands. Allow me to start with the most viral this year though, being the shooting of innocent lives in a club house leading to the death of 49 people, and many injured. When did we decide to take laws into our hands? When did we decide who was “good” or “bad” enough to live in “our” world, ignoring the “do not judge” that is clearly stated in both holy books – the bible and the Quran. Those who lost their lives obviously did not fall from the sky, and thus have loved ones who will never get over losing them unjustly. How can justice be served in a situation like this, when there is basically no one to be punished for this grievous crime? As humans, who wouldn’t feel justified to retaliate in a situation like this; knowing it might be the only form of closure they might ever get.

Then came the unjust and inhumane killing of two innocent, black men by deviant, bad, and probably, racist cops; a day apart from each other. This led to a vast number of people seeking justice with the hashtag “Black lives matter” which had hitherto, always been a movement, even though many refused to acknowledge. What happened next shocked the world, as in a twisted turn of events, someone was “finally” retaliating. The Dallas shooting of cops by an “angry” man who probably had been nursing the anger of bad, racist cops killing “colored people”. The sniper aimed and shot “white” cops… Men and women who have pledged to protect the nation. Men and women with families and loved ones, who stepped out of their houses with the intent to help guard the citizens of the country they had sworn to protect. Innocent men and women who have now left behind grieving, and probably now, very “angry” families too.
You see the cycle yet? It keeps going round and round.

Don’t forget the role of the media in all these. The media which feeds its people exactly what it needs them to know. The media, “which” understands that telling the people a gold dress is blue over and over again will force them to believe they actually have problems with their eyes. The media, “who” tries to stir people into their own beliefs and understanding. Everyone is definitely guilty of this, because consciously and unconsciously, everyone is the media.

Did you know that there are other countries like Turkey, Iraq, and Afghanistan that have suffered similar fates this year; rendering countless lives empty as children are left to fend for themselves?
Did you know that in other countries too, like Nigeria, innocent people lose their lives because of religion and tradition? Apart from the boko haram which is fast depreciating, cowards and illiterates actually kill people for the fun of it, some even claiming they aren’t worshiping their own God! Seriously, what is wrong with our humanity? Even the Bible clearly stated in Joshua 24:15 that “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” and the Quran also clearly stated in Q 109:6 that “…to you be your religion, and to me, mine”. So at what point exactly did it become a religious war, and for whom are we fighting? God? Didn’t we call Him the mightiest? Have we now belittled Him so much that we fight his “wars” for Him? Have we now become his “bodyguards” that we can’t but imagine anyone “disobey” him? Wasn’t He the one that banished the devil to hell? If He wanted to take another decision, couldn’t He have taken it on his own? Or did we not read He is the lord of the worlds? Oh ye “fighters of God”, can you take a rest if your God is truly God? Why fear other people’s religion? There should be no competition or compulsion in religion. Why generate problems with others when you can live a peaceful life, and go ahead when the time is right, to be judged by the ONE true God?

A few days ago in Nice, France; another set of innocent and happy lives were taken while celebrating their national day. Their national day, for goodness sake! The obviously sick killer maimed innocent lives by shooting, and running over them in his truck, killing about 80 people and injuring many others. Is this going to get any better or worse? Are we going to continue to allow the so called terrorists to take charge of our lives, giving people who are obviously tired of life a reason to take others with them, and thereafter “claiming” responsibility? Are we going to continue to live in fear or is something going to be done about this? Isn’t it time we woke from our slumber, and took responsibility of our own lives; not waiting on people to tell us what to do for the “sake of heaven”, if that’s what it is truly about? If you really love heaven so much, how about you do your research and stop making people lie to you, as to what might lead you there. Exodus 20:13 clearly states “You shall not murder” and Q 6:151 clearly states “and do not kill a soul…” How about you stopped planning behind the scenes, doing things to make people feel bad about their religion.
All I’m trying to say is, it is high time we let God be God. Act as he has commanded, and leave his judgement to him. Do not judge for Him, no matter what race and/or religion you belong to. Remember your humanity, and Let God be God!
